Officer John Azevedo has worked for a California Police Department Since January of 2001. He worked as a patrol officer in the southern portion of the city for approximately three years including a five month temporary assignment as a School Resource Officer. In January of 2003 Officer Azevedo was selected to be a member of the south area Problem Oriented Policing team, or "POP" team, where he attained a contemporary knowledge of police work.

In August of 2006, Officer Azevedo realized his aspirations of becoming a police canine handler where he was teamed up with "Blitz", an eighty-two pound purebred German Shepherd. Born in August 2003, bred by a training facility in Santa Cruz California, Blitz is a high energy Shepherd that lives to please his handler. Blitz lives at home with Officer Azevedo and is a valued member of the family. He is an affectionate canine who loves attention from anyone willing to give it to him. He loves to play with other dogs especially the family pet, an eight-year old black Labrador named Natie.

Blitz is quite well-rounded and has responded well to the Sacramento Police Department's new cross training direction. Blitz is certified for patrol, S.W.A.T. and narcotics. He is also well versed in article searching and tracking.

At 10 years of age, Justin began training retrievers, and by 17, he was competing in the AKC Retriever Field Trials. He worked as a big game guide in Montana before returning to Arkansas in 1995 to start his own company, Yellow Dog Trading Company, and host outdoor segments on the local ABC TV affiliate. In 1998, Justin spearheaded the Great Outdoor Games "fly fishing" and "retriever" portions.

Justin now serves as the on-air analyst for the highly successful Super Retriever Series. Justin and his dog, Yella, star in the TV Show, "Waterdog". He is also CEO of the new World Retriever Championship. Justin is currently working Yella toward her AKC field titles after completing her UKC Grand title and her AKC Master Hunter title.
